Greenling is a Munich-based startup with the vision to create opportunities for urban people to benefit from plants and gardens in their everyday life.
Traction and Ask
With €60k net revenues in 2022, 200 customers and a €2M pre-money valuation, Greenling is looking to raise €200k pre-seed funding and gain valuable sales and marketing expertise from investors. The investment is needed to:
- Reach 10 key business customers from the hospitality industry, such as serviced apartments and hotels, and €160k net revenues by Q4 2023;
- Invest into stronger “customer happiness” content and develop an even more unique and exciting customer experience;
- Strengthen the team with one new hire in sales and one new hire in logistic services and beef up DACH sales.
Market, Business Model, Financials and Team
In a growing German gardening market worth €21,4 bn (3% CARG / 2021), Greenling was founded in 2021 in Munich, Germany. Greenling monetizes mainly through B2C and B2B subscription fees charged to city dwellers, serviced apartments, hotels, and restaurants. Revenue growth is projected at 3x YoY (breakeven in Q4 2024), reaching €1,5M ARR by Q4 2025. Greenling’s team of two co-founders and two expert gardeners combine 15+ years of commercial, gardening and vertical farming expertise.
Competitive Advantage
Greenling is the first out-of-the-box minigarden with a simple plug-and-play system that combines our gardener expertise with your non-green thumb. Competitors offering pre-planted solutions like The Plant Box and Blumixx lack in closing the customer and product knowledge gap between the plant and their offerings. Moreover, they do not offer key features which fully address common gardening problems such as watering issues (too much, too little), tangled plant roots, and successfully combining plants with different soil and water needs.
Round Details
Greenling has already invested €130k of its own capital and raised €200k from a Kickstarter campaign and a loan from Münchner Bank to develop its MVP, which means that, after this investment round is secured, Greenling is fully ready for international commercial uptake.
We aim to close this pre-seed round by 15 June 2023. €15k is the minimum investment ticket size.
