The Ask

Sumo Apps is now looking to raise €2M seed funding. The ideal investor would have expertise or networks in the creator economy, product customisation or edtech.
The investment is needed to:

  1. Develop and market the Digital Marketplace for Sumo’s creators. This will add new revenue streams and increase user retention.
  2. Strengthen the team with 2 key hires in the US, with substantial experience in the Creator Economy, business development and revenue generation.
  3. Reach positive EBITDA by FYE 2024; €5M net annual revenue by Q4 2025; 1M paying B2C customers and become the market leader for Creator Tools.

The Market

Founded in 2020 in Helsinki, Finland, Sumo Apps is the next big thing in the creator economy, which is a market estimated at €100Bn+ with 35% CAGR / year.

Business Model

Sumo currently monetizes through subscription fees for its users; along with licensing its API to partners for 15%-25% revenue sharing. Additionally Sumo will be adding new revenue streams during the first half of 2024:

  • Digital Advertising to its 10MM MAU, estimated to generate ~$35K/m in revenue.
  • Higher subscription tier for users that wish to sell and/or license their digital works on Sumo’s Digital Marketplace.
  • Transaction fees of 15% for all purchases or licenses of digital works.

Sumo team of 10 full-time and 6 part-time employees and 4 advisors, based in Helsinki (Finland) and Alicante (Spain), with 78% total ownership and €20M in previous exits, combines several decades of managerial, commercial and edtech/AI/Web3 expertise.

Competitive Advantage

Sumo Apps has the same technology stack, but more potential than competitors like US based Canva and Figma (both valued $10Bn+), having a full creative suite in the cloud, that allows creators to monetise their digital content in one place and allows our partners to offer additional ways to engage and monetise their users. Sumo’s unique approach of providing creative tools to students and helping them to become future content creators and monetize their content, makes Sumo very attractive for our partners like Google, Microsoft and Samsung.
